By now most of you are aware of the winds of change that have lately been blowing through FCE and brought us to a stop. We received the official and long-awaited letter from the Zambian government to confirm the building of the dam in the Kafulafuta River. This project is for the benefit of Zambia, but it is causing disruption for FCE and the local people with whom we have been working closely for many years. We lived through the initial shock and are in the process of finding answers to numerous penetrating questions. We are seriously seeking the Lord as our only desire is to please Him. In my battle to find clarity, the Lord confronted me with the following challenging questions. During the staff conference FCE reflected on these and we have entered 2018 in faith.
WHO ARE YOU? This is the question that the Jews, the priests and the Levites asked John the Baptist. A crucial question that requires a direct answer. “We need to give an answer to those who sent us.” (John 1: 19, 22) John answered: “I am not the Messiah” (John 1:20). And as he points to Jesus, he declared: “HERE IS THE LAMB OF GOD” (John 1:29). Through this testimony John the Baptist was released into his ministry.
WHO AM I? The question Jesus asked His disciples (Matt. 16:15). Not who do other people say I am. Who do you think I am? A repetition of another’s answer is never an answer. The moment Simon Peter confessed Jesus as his personal Saviour, ”You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16:16), Simon was released into his ministry. “On this rock, I will build My church” (Matt. 16:18).
WHY do you call Me Lord, Lord, and don’t do the things I say (John 6:46)? We in FCE experienced this as a warning when we discussed the questions above at the staff conference. It is so easy in ministries and for Christians to be busy and actively involved in doing good things for the Lord instead of believing whole heartedly that HE IS CHRIST and we should make Him known as THE SAVIOUR of the World. “This is the work of God: that you BELIEVE in the One He has sent” (John 6:29). Our personal relationship, commitment and total obedience unto the ‘LORD, LORD’, are what will keep us standing against the flood and true to our ministry in FCE.
WHO IS FCE? An urgent question to FCE and all our loyal FCE supporters. A crucial question that requires an honest answer, because we stand before major changes and challenges. We should know who we are and where we are going. I KNOW I received a personal calling from the Lord 28 years ago and through all these years He has equipped and used us ‘to prepare the way of the Lord’ (Is. 40:3) through education and training. This is the clear answer we received once again and it urges us to continue with our ministry. I also experienced Him saying “be still and know that I am God.”(Ps 46:10), because in “quietness and confidence shall be your strength” (Is. 30:15).
AND YOU? Where do you stand regarding these questions? As an FCE supporter and co-worker, do you BELIEVE that Jesus is the ‘Lamb of God’, and is it your desire and passion that He is made known as the ‘One who takes away the sin of the world’ (John 1:29)? Is this the reason why you support, encourage and pray for us? May you sincerely and honestly answer these questions, because FCE is in need of your support to continue with what ‘pleases the Lord’.
It does not matter how strong the winds of change are blowing in FCE and it does not matter that the existence of our training centres hang in the balance, it remains our ministry to DECLARE THE LAMB OF GOD!
